The South West Coast Path starts at Minehead in Somerset and runs along Somerset’s Bristol Channel coast, across North Devon, right round Cornwall, then along the South Devon and Dorset coasts to Poole Harbour. However, I will be walking it in reverse, not backwards, but from Poole to Minehead. This is a distance of 630 miles which is over twice the distance of the Pennine Way and makes it by far the longest National Trail in Britain. The route passes through some of the most spectacular coastal scenery anywhere including two UNESCO World Heritage sites; The Jurassic Coast and the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape.

I will set off from South Haven Point (Poole) on Staurday 24th July 2010 and hope to arrive in one piece, 31 days later, in Minehead. Accommodation along the way will be a tent and youth hostels.
